Volunteer Housekeeper & Property Caretaker – The International Houuse, Québec

Join us at The International House in beautiful Québec City as a volunteer, helping keep our multicultural guest house clean, organized, and welcoming while meeting travelers from around the world.

Join us in beautiful Québec City at La Halte Internationale, a welcoming guest house for travelers from around the world. We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented volunteer to help maintain a clean, organized, and comfortable environment for our guests.


Your main tasks will include:

·       Daily cleaning of rooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and common areas

·       Changing and laundering linens (with periodic duvet checks)

·       Emptying trash and organizing recycling

·       Light organizing and ensuring supplies are stocked (coffee, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.)

·       Keeping the space smelling fresh and pleasant

·       Monitoring for maintenance issues, insect control, and respecting quiet hours

·       Reporting any guest-related issues to our property manager

Activities & Shifts

Volunteers follow a simple daily rhythm focused on keeping the house welcoming and comfortable.

·       Morning (5–10 min) – Quick check of the kitchen sink and common areas.

·       Late Morning (11 AM–1 PM) – Main cleaning shift: refresh rooms, change linens, tidy bathrooms, and maintain shared spaces.

·       Evening (10–15 min) – Turn off lights, check the sink again, and engage with guests to ensure they feel at home.


Rules & Expectations – The International House


1. Respect the Schedule


  • Morning check (5–10 min): Kitchen sink, common area tidiness.
  • Main cleaning shift (11 AM–1 PM): Rooms, bathrooms, shared spaces.
  • Evening check (10–15 min): Lights off, sink clean, guest engagement.


2. Cleanliness & Attention to Detail


  • Keep all areas tidy and hygienic, using provided cleaning products.
  • Replace linens as scheduled and check for pests.
  • Report any maintenance or cleanliness issues immediately.


3. Guest Interaction


  • Be friendly and approachable.
  • Help guests feel welcome, respecting their privacy.


4. Communication


  • Use WhatsApp for updates with the manager (MAGNUS).
  • Report any supply shortages (e.g., coffee, soap, toilet paper).


5. Safety & Comfort


  • Ensure the house is secure and quiet after 10 PM.
  • Monitor for any safety issues in rooms, kitchen, or parking area.


6. Proactive Mindset


  • Take initiative to solve small issues without waiting for instructions.
  • Offer suggestions to improve the guest experience.
